Animal Modelling and an airbrushing session

 A brand new online modelling class simplifying modelled figures. Specially reduced price.  The course will be held in a private facebook group.

I will record a demonstration each week that will remain in the group for you to access whenever you want.   Each week I will go live in the group 6:30-9pm on Tuesday from the 2nd June to the 14th July. The recordings of these sessions will remain in the group for you to watch whenever you want.


Each week you will need:

modelling tool set including Bone tool, Ball tool, Bulbous cone, Dresden, Cerart K2220 Hard point or cocktail stick, edible glue, cornflour puff, work board, CMC, food colours to suit your design, sharp knife and palette knife, glue brush, ruler, scalpel/cutting wheel. Mix of styles of paint brushes to include detail brushes and flat brushes. Cocktail sticks.


Paste – I will be using Saracino pasta model, but you could also use sugarpaste with CMC.  I mix 1 level tsp of cmc with 400g of sugarpaste, wrap up in a sandwich bag (only mix when you are ready to use it rather than in advance)

You can colour your paste in advance and store in sandwich bags in a Tupperware container ready for the class. You can choose your colours, but I have written what I used for the figures.  Each week you have the choice of using black dragees for eyes, or use black coloured paste.


Week 1 2nd June – Rabbit

You will need:  Saracino modelling paste (up to 100g).  We will make both a simple rabbit and a dressed rabbit. (Clothing colours of your choice). You can choose from a white or brown rabbit (please have 70g in that chosen colour - plus colour the remaining paste in a mixture of clothing colours of your choice. Pink and brown dust colours. Plus dust colours for chosen clothing colours.


Week 2 9th June – Tortoise and an optional owl

You will need: Saracino modelling paste (up to 50g) coloured beige, brown and black dust colours (or gels if you wish to paint) plus Culpitt dipping solution or nielsen massey lemon extract to mix to a paint, or you can dust.  You can also use Squires Kitchen cocoa butter and a plate and breakfast bowl (filled with boiling water) and paint using that and dust colours. (optional owl - additional 35g paste including beige, brown and a tiny amount of white and black for eyes)


Week 3 23rd June – Lion

You will need: Saracino modelling paste (up to 100g) coloured to approx:  beige 15g yellow 5g, brown 25g, Orange/autumn leaf 70g, tiny amount of white, blue and black for eyes and dark pink/red for tongue.


Week 4 30th June – Collie Dog Pup

You will need: Saracino modelling paste up to 75g in white. chestnut or brown and black dust colours can either dust or add alcohols mentioned in week 2 to paint, or cocoa butter equipment to add as in week 2


Week 5 7th July - Basic Airbrushing dem to create a covered board to arrange finished animals on and making horse armature.

You will need: 24, 18g florist wires, florist tape (I will use white, but use what you have), wire cutters or strong scissors, aluminium foil. Airbrush. Sugarpaste 200g in white and 10" round cake board. Airbrush colours: yellow, brown, green, black.


Week 6 14th July - Finish Horse

You will need: Saracino modelling paste up to 100g coloured to chosen horse colour plus a different colour for mane and tail approximately 30g and pinch of black for eyes (hooves can be dusted black) .  dust colours to suit horse eg brown, black, white.
