Dragons & Daffodils School

Wednesday 10-12 April start 8 weeks £48 ONLINE

This class will be taught via a combination of a private fb group with fb lives and potentially with shorter zoom meetings for sections where you want assistance with your work.

 

We will be making a Japanese Garden scene with a red maple tree , dried stone wall, moss balls, miniature stone temple ornament, gravel section, stream with water lily and grass.  

NB - This class will concentrate on the scenery details and will not include  a modelled figure.  

 

Each week please bring: modelling tools, work board, glue and brush, rolling pin, corn flour, work board to store items made

 

Week 1 29th April – Dry stone wall –

You will need: 1kg total sugarpaste and cmc, black dust or gel colour, work board.foil

 

Week 2 6th May – temple ornament

You will need: sugarpaste, cmc, black dust or gel colour

 

Week 3 20 May – Water Lily

You will need:  white and green flowerpaste (less than 50g), small six petal pointed cutters, or star cutters or small jasmine cutter, scalpel, flowerpad (or use your hand), dust colours: yellow, moss green, foliage green, aubergine, spray glaze.

 

Week 4 3rd June – Shrubbery and continue with water lily

You will need: green sugarpaste and cmc, tweezers, plus as last week

 

Week 5 24th June – Miniature maple tree (or generic tree)

You will need: optional miniature leaf cutters (I bought from coronet porcelain, but you can work without cutters), or small ivy cutters and ivy or maple leaf veiner (or alny leaf veiner), flowerpaste (red for maple, or can make chosen colour), 28g or 30g wires, white or red florist tape, brown florist tape (green florist tape if not making a red maple tree) dust colours: red, burgundy, aubergine (if making red maple) or yellow, moss green, forest green, aubergine, dusting brushes and palette, wire cutters or strong scissors

 

Week 6 1st July – Continue tree

You will need: as last week, plus kitchen roll

 

Week 7 8th July – Scene setting  and moss balls

You will need: Either a cake or dummy for your garden, or you can use a drum.  Size is up to you, minimum of 8” space needed, but use what you have.   Sugarpaste to cover (if using a dummy, approximately 1-2kg, if using just a drum 1kg), gel colours to colour paste – can choose to just have white gravel, or pale grey, or can have green grass, brown earth areas (we will be discussing this weekly so we can throw out ideas), rolling pin, modelling tools. Plus what you have already made.

 

Week 8 15th July – Pond and complete cake

You will need: piping gel, or edible glue to give the effect of water,  plus sugarpaste and dust colours to include green and blue.
